EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We're looking for a Senior Agricultural Advisor to join us on a12 month Secondment to lead efforts in reducing agricultural pollutants—focusing on pesticides, nutrients, and cryptosporidium—in our water sources. You’ll work directly with farmers and land managers across priority catchments in the Severn Trent region, delivering tailored advice and driving behavioural change to reduce diffuse pollution.
Key Accountabilities:
- Farmer Engagement & Advice Delivery: Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, delivering tailored advice and encouraging sustainable land management practices.
- Campaign & Event Management: Lead catchment-based demonstrations, workshops, and communication activities to promote pollution reduction and biodiversity goals.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work with agronomists, contractors, local initiatives and the wider business; attend stakeholder meetings and support wider team efforts beyond your own priority catchments. Manage processes and procedures as part of working groups to improve whole team activity and integration with the wider business, extending into industry where relevant.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Track engagement, water quality, and land management changes; ensure accurate data recording and contribute to process improvements.
- Health and Safety: Drive a safe and supportive culture across the whole team, ensuring that that nobody gets hurt, or is made unwell, by what we do.
- Mentoring: Coach and mentor junior team members in all aspects of our work, whilst building a strong network
- Professional Development: Utilise membership of professional bodies to remain current in our field of work and bring new ideas back to the team. Engage with trials inside and outside of the team to gain insights into methods to improve water quality.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a Senior Agricultural Advisor who can confidently deliver catchment initiatives using a range of tools, including specialist advice and incentive schemes like STEPS, Swap Your Nozzles, and biodiversity programmes. As our work evolves, you’ll also help shape and implement new approaches.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring experience in agriculture, land management, and stakeholder engagement, with a proven ability to build strong relationships within the farming community. You’ll be skilled in project planning, data interpretation, and problem-solving, with the ability to communicate clearly and deliver results through collaboration.
This role requires strong technical knowledge and the ability to mentor others, contributing to process improvements and supporting the wider business. You’ll be a key point of contact for both farmers and colleagues, offering expertise and leadership across your catchments.
A full UK driving licence is essential. While FACTS and BASIS training is desirable, it’s not required. A degree-level qualification in agriculture or environmental science is preferred, along with membership of a relevant industry body.
