Tactical Asset Planning Manager
At Hafren Dyfrdwy, we’re passionate about delivering clean, safe water and caring for the environment across Wales. We’re more than a water company – we’re a team committed to sustainability, innovation, and supporting the communities we serve. If you’re looking for a role where you can make a real impact and be part of a purpose-driven organisation, we’d love to hear from you.
With that in mind we’re looking for a Tactical Asset Planning Manager within our Asset Planning team to help us continue to perform and invest in our assets. This role covers all Hafren Dyfrdwy (HD) assets and can based in Packsaddle (Wrexham), Shelton (Shrewsbury) or STC (Coventry).
Do you have experience of managing, motivating and leading a technical team? And do you have the ability to articulate complex information to those that might not be from your area of expertise? Or perhaps you have experience in data analysis and being able to find the root cause of complex problems?
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Reporting to the Asset Planning Water Networks Business Lead, the Tactical Asset Planning Manager is responsible for leading a small team of asset experts and ensuring that appropriate interventions are identified for waste and water infrastructure and non-infrastructure asset classes with the HD network.
You will also be fully involved with regulatory reporting, and APR, PCD and reporting and forecasting, and be fully involved in developing our future asset management framework and helping to define the future investment plan to protect HD customers for the future.
The breadth of this role means that you will be front and centre of how the business works. It’s a great opportunity to be involved with a range of different workstreams and get to know all the key stakeholders that make HD a very special place to work.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
In this role you’ll manage, coach and drive a small team who will be responsible for ensuring that Severn Trent’s waste and water asset classes are optimised and calm. You'll also need to lead the management of HD’s interventions on assets within the asset class to maximise service to customers and maximise and enhance ODI performance.
Having stakeholder management skills is key for this role as you’ll support the long-term planning and prioritising of investment in line with the annual business plan and be instrumental in shaping future AMPs. You’ll work with key stakeholders to maintain plan trajectory and provide evidence to inform changes when required. You’ll also need to drive a strong business partnering culture underpinned by healthy challenge and control to understand risk position and plan to reduce this over time.
You'll need to have a clear understanding of our Business Plan objectives and strategy and have an ability to be able to convert them into a programme of work. It is key that you understand the calculation of benefits to be delivered to our customers and have good commercial and financial awareness.
As our Tactical Asset Planning Manager, you’ll need to lead the development and continuous improvement of a proactive risk methodology for the asset class, as a key enabler of effective and consistent decision making for Operational & Maintenance and capital investment decisions. Through this you’ll provide a coherent view of the asset class risk position and progressing and moderate risk to drive mitigation and reduction over time.
