Join Our Team at Severn Trent as a Senior Waste Proactive Controller!
Are you ready to make a significant impact in waste management and water recycling? Severn Trent is seeking a Senior Waste Proactive Controller to join our Customer Delivery team in the Waste OCC department. This role is based at STC and is classified as a Level 2 Technical Expert position.
Role Objective:
As a Senior Waste Proactive Controller, you will play a crucial role in maximizing the benefits of our proactive systems across Waste Networks and Waste Water Recycling. Your efforts will help reduce pollution, spills, and flooding events across our wastewater estate.
You will provide expert technical advice to Waste Proactive Controllers and stakeholders, and serve as an escalation point for complex cases. Ensuring that documentation for business processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is maintained and up to date is a key part of this role.
Additionally, you will ensure that management information is accurate and current for stakeholder updates. Proactively managing stakeholders through key forums and communities of practice, and continuously improving team service, are also essential objectives.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
Key Accountabilities:
- Act as the first escalation point for triage decisions, using your expertise to support team members in interpreting available information and deciding the correct course of action.
- Liaise with pollution and flooding leads to understand causes and identify opportunities for proactive intervention.
- Produce training material and an upskilling framework for the Waste Proactive Team, and deliver training on proactive systems and processes to team members and colleagues across the business.
- Develop and own the process and SOP documentation for the team.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to provide input on dependent processes, such as operational response and monitor placement.
- Own and develop the performance metrics and benefits tracking for the team.
- Ensure the team workload is distributed according to priority.
- Attend WWICOP and PPI COP meetings to pass on key messages and identify opportunities for the team to contribute further.
- Cover for the Team Leader when necessary.
Experience and Capabilities:
We are looking for candidates with a good understanding of Infra and Non-Infra Waste Water assets, operational activities and processes on wastewater assets, and experience using telemetry systems and data to identify problems. You should have experience influencing actions and change in external teams, training and developing teams, and using SAP and Microsoft Office products, primarily Excel.
Key capabilities include strong coaching skills to build understanding of complex assets and scenarios within the team, strong stakeholder engagement and networking skills, and strong influencing skills to drive action from stakeholder teams. You should be adept at interpreting and applying complex business rules, making decisions with limited evidence, and have excellent attention to detail. Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential.
