Everything you need to know

At Severn Trent, we're delivering one of the most ambitious capital investment programmes in the UK, investing billions to improve water and wastewater services for our customers and communities.

We're looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Capital Delivery team and take ownership of some of our largest and most complex capital projects. In this role, you'll lead projects from inception through to completion, ensuring scope, cost, schedule, quality, safety and benefits are managed effectively throughout the project lifecycle.

You'll work across a range of high-profile projects, leading multidisciplinary teams, managing delivery partners and contractors, and engaging with senior stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes that support our strategic objectives.

If you're an experienced project leader who thrives on delivering complex infrastructure projects and enjoys working in a collaborative, delivery-focused environment, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the end-to-end delivery of major, high-value and complex capital projects.
  • Taking full accountability for project planning, governance, cost, schedule, risk and performance management.
  • Acting as the escalation point for complex delivery, commercial, financial and stakeholder issues.
  • Managing contracts and supplier relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Driving effective financial control, forecasting and budget management.
  • Leading stakeholder engagement across internal teams, delivery partners and external organisations.
  • Managing and mitigating project risks while ensuring appropriate governance and assurance processes are followed.
  • Supporting business case development, investment decisions and project prioritisation activities.
  • Providing technical guidance and delivery oversight to Project Managers and Project Co-ordinators.
  • Ensuring the successful transition of projects into operational business-as-usual environments.
  • Championing health, safety and wellbeing while maintaining a strong focus on customer outcomes.
  • Driving continuous improvement and embedding best practice across project delivery activities.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Significant experience delivering major infrastructure, engineering or capital projects.
  • A proven track record of managing complex projects through the full project lifecycle.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing suppliers, contracts and delivery partners.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasts and financial performance.
  • Strong knowledge of project governance, assurance and risk management processes.
  • The ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Experience resolving complex project challenges and driving successful outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety and risk management principles.
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day project delivery requirements.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Project management qualification or equivalent industry experience.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Full UK driving licence.

What's in it for you?

At Severn Trent, you'll have the opportunity to deliver major infrastructure projects that make a real difference to customers, communities and the environment.

In return, you'll benefit from:

  • Competitive salary
  • Annual bonus opportunity
  • 28 days holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy and sell leave
  • Double-matched pension scheme up to 15%
  • Private medical cover
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Access to a range of wellbeing and lifestyle benefits

What's next?

If you're ready to lead major projects, influence key decisions and help deliver the future of water infrastructure across our region, we'd love to hear from you.
