If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We have a brilliant opportunity to join our Network Control department as a Project Engineer!

While in this role, you will play a key role in leading and managing the project team and project lifecycle (from business case approval to closure and review) ensuring all project deliverables are achieved on time, within cost and to agreed quality standards.

You will scope and create project plan with input from Designer (who determines the time required to complete design) and the appointed D&B Contractor (where appropriate) and perform the role of NEC Project Manager (or elements of it) when delegated by the Programme Manager (Delegation of Authority to be confirmed)

You’ll also manage internal and external stakeholders and customers, assist in the preparation and submission of Business Cases/to Severn Trent Water governance boards, while undertaking the financial management of projects to ensure accurate and robust financial forecasting and budgetary allocation.

Facilitate the resolution of issues arising between Severn Trent Water and other utilities, statutory bodies and statutory undertakers, e.g, power, Network Rail, British Waterways, Highway Authorities and councils.

This is a diverse and fast passed role that will include optinioneering initial solutions and writing papers obtaining funding, through to organising trials and ensuring safe delivery of capital installs to enable the isolation; effectively seeing this job through end to end.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

We’re seeking someone who has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven ability to manage internal and external stakeholders. You’ll need to bring strong organisational skills and the confidence to manage multiple workstreams, prioritise tasks effectively, and motivate both direct and third‑party teams. Operating in a fast‑paced and dynamic setting means you’ll also need to be fluid in your approach, managing expectations clearly while having the courage to challenge team members and external suppliers to ensure high‑quality work is delivered on time, to cost, and to the required standards.

You’ll join our team with the capability to identify and manage risks and opportunities across all projects within your portfolio, drawing on an excellent understanding of health and safety‑related risk management. You will also play a key role in ensuring Severn Trent fulfils its duties as Client under CDM regulations and remains compliant with all external legislation. Experience of working closely with the supply chain is essential, particularly in supporting the delivery of projects to defined milestones, specifications, health and safety expectations, outputs, and quality requirements.

A critical part of the role includes managing programme finances, from long‑term financial planning through to accurate forecasting and budget allocation. You’ll be expected to seek out the best financial and innovative solutions for Severn Trent, ensuring our investments are optimised and robust. Strong hydraulic and problem‑solving skills will be vital, including the ability to identify and promote effective solutions and carry out hydraulic modelling where required.

While the right skills and experience matter, we’re equally passionate about finding someone with the right character—someone positive, caring, and ready to get involved. We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality, knowing that diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up, take ownership, and want to be part of something bigger—people who want to make a meaningful difference because they genuinely care. A full UK driving licence will also be required for this role.

Is that you?
