As a Tankering Compliance Expert, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our Tankering teams have the skills, knowledge, and support they need to deliver exceptional performance while remaining compliant with industry, regulatory, and company standards. Based within the Waste Operational Control Centre (OCC), you'll act as the subject matter expert for all tankering operations and processes.

 

Working at the heart of a fast-paced and evolving business area, you'll combine coaching, training, auditing, and continuous improvement to drive operational excellence across the tankering function. You'll partner closely with OCC leaders, field operations, suppliers, and subject matter experts to embed best practice, improve team capability, and optimise tanker deployment and performance. Your key accountabilities in this role will include:

 

  • Deliver engaging inductions, training, and coaching programmes that build capability and ensure Tankering teams have the skills and knowledge to perform at their best.
  • Act as the Tankering Subject Matter Expert, providing operational guidance, technical expertise, and support across Waste OCC and field-based teams.
  • Drive compliance with tankering procedures, regulatory requirements, supplier obligations, and best practice standards.
  • Carry out audits and assessments of tankering activities, identifying performance or compliance gaps and supporting the implementation of effective corrective actions.
  • Work closely with OCC leaders, operational teams, tanker suppliers, and Subject Matter Experts to improve processes, enhance service delivery, and embed a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop, review, and maintain tankering training materials, guidance documents, Standard Operating Procedures, and contingency plans to ensure they remain accurate, relevant, and effective.
  • Support the successful implementation of new tankering processes, technologies, and ways of working, ensuring teams understand and adopt changes consistently.
  • Monitor tankering performance, competency, compliance, utilisation, and cost efficiency, providing insight and recommendations to support operational excellence.
  • Promote and uphold high standards of safety, environmental compliance, quality, and customer service while maintaining accurate records and supporting departmental governance.
  • Act as a trusted expert and coach, helping to improve pollution response, customer impact mitigation, environmental protection, and overall tankering performance across the Waste OCC function.
  • Lead on tankering incident reviews, lessons learned, and best practice sharing to continually improve operational resilience and service delivery.
