We’re looking for an Optimisation Lead to lead our Pressure management Application Team (PMAT). This team is responsible for maintaining proactive pressure performance across the company, ensuring our corporate systems support the delivery of consistent service levels for our customers. Your team will oversee all performance of pressure management equipment on the water network, responding to exceptions and ensuring assets operate as expected. This includes monitoring alarms, investigating performance issues through root cause analysis, and driving improvements in the quality of data recorded within our asset register (SAP). A key focus of the role is developing a more accurate and insightful understanding of asset health across a range of water network asset classes.
You’ll foster strong collaboration across Asset Planning, Network Optimisation, Network Control and operational teams, encouraging active engagement and shared problem‑solving. You’ll also be expected to design and refine effective processes, while maintaining a curious and forward‑thinking mindset to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, automation and greater team impact.
Some of your key accountabilities will include:
- Lead and support a team of Technicians responsible for monitoring, managing and analysing water‑pressure data and alarms.
- Maintain and develop capability in assessing asset performance, operational risk and data quality across key corporate systems.
- Promote health, safety and wellbeing while coaching, mentoring and supporting team development.
- Drive continuous improvement, share best practice and embed lessons learned to enhance customer outcomes and ODI performance.
- Oversee and look to improve team engagement
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You’ll have experience in implementing process and system improvements, strong coaching and mentoring skills, and familiarity with Netbase software. These core competencies ensure the successful candidate can lead effectively while supporting operational excellence.
It is also desirable for candidates to have operational experience within the water industry and line management experience. Additional beneficial experience includes knowledge of water treatment and distribution processes, technical skills in water hydraulics and hydraulic analysis, managing operational budgets and overseeing projects, as well as an understanding of regulatory obligations and assurance processes.
The role requires a range of capabilities, including leading technical teams, creative and strategic thinking, and strong problem‑solving and data interpretation skills. Candidates must be able to manage change, influence stakeholders, prioritise effectively and communicate complex issues clearly. A collaborative approach, the ability to inspire and motivate others, and the use of data to understand and overcome challenges are also key to delivering sustained performance improvement.
