What you'll be doing

  • Leading, developing and managing Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and Project Co-ordinators.
  • Building capability through coaching, mentoring, development planning and succession planning.
  • Leading workforce and resource planning activities to ensure projects have the right skills and capacity to meet delivery commitments.
  • Maintaining accountability for the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects.
  • Providing delivery oversight and intervention where project risks, issues or performance concerns arise.
  • Driving consistency in project management standards, governance and assurance processes.
  • Managing financial performance, forecasting, reporting and portfolio-level risks.
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, delivery partners and supply chain organisations.
  • Preparing performance reports and updates for senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Championing health, safety and wellbeing across all projects and teams.
  • Driving continuous improvement and identifying opportunities to increase efficiency through innovation and AI-enabled solutions.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Experience leading and managing project management teams within a capital delivery or complex delivery environment.
  • Experience overseeing the successful delivery of multiple projects or a project portfolio.
  • Strong capability in people management, workforce planning and team development.
  • Proven experience delivering significant projects and managing project performance.
  • Experience working within NEC project environments or similar capital delivery frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of project governance, controls, risk management and commercial delivery.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to interpret contractual and financial information.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong decision-making capability.
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day delivery leadership.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills alongside excellent IT literacy.

Qualifications

  • Project management qualification or qualified through relevant experience.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Full UK driving licence.

What's in it for you?

At Severn Trent, you'll help shape and deliver major infrastructure projects that make a real difference to customers, communities and the environment.

In return, you'll benefit from:

  • Competitive salary
  • Annual bonus opportunity
  • 28 days holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy and sell leave
  • Double-matched pension scheme up to 15%
  • Private medical cover
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Access to a range of wellbeing and lifestyle benefits
