Enabling Team Technician

At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide when it comes to employee engagement and ranked as a Top 50 UK Employer on Glassdoor. Join us in making a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.

If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Join our Enabling Team as a Technician and take on a varied, fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You’ll play a key part in supporting proactive site checks, commissioning activity and trials that help deliver our wider capital enabling programme.

Working across the Severn Trent region, this is a hands-on, field-based role where you’ll be involved in specialist tasks such as complex valving operations, working in high-risk environments like confined spaces, and carrying out interventions using over pumps and generators. We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting stuck in, can work to tight deadlines, and takes pride in delivering work safely and to a high standard.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

 What you’ll be doing:

  • Carrying out detailed asset checks to support capital design and installation feasibility, alongside maintaining high water quality and ensuring all equipment meets compliance standards
  • Setting up and operating over pumping solutions for both planned and reactive work, including supporting complex network interventions and valve operations (release, squeezing and maintenance)
  • Working in high-risk environments, including confined spaces, while providing rescue support when required
  • Supporting a standby rota and out-of-hours work to respond to emergency loss of supply events and deliver key programme work

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong knowledge of the water network (infra and non-infra) with hands-on operational experience
  • Confident working in challenging environments (e.g. confined spaces, working at height) – full training can be provided
  • A proactive team player with strong communication and time management skills, able to work independently when needed
  • Full UK driving licence (including towing); willingness to gain additional licences such as HGV

Nice to have (but not essential):

  • Experience with valve operations and maintenance
  • Previous experience within the water industry

Qualifications:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent)
  • Full UK driving licence (with flexibility to support further licence training)

Working here isn’t just a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent. We’ll reward you for it, too. We have a range of benefits that recognise great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the communities where we live.
