Our Environmental Regulations and Compliance team have an opportunity for you to join as our new Abstraction compliance and reporting Team Manager.
The objective of the team is to assure and improve our compliance with abstraction, impoundment and compensation licences. The person will need understand the detail within our licences across Severn Trent and Hafren Dyfrdwy, the regulatory framework that both companies operate in and the importance of this key environmental measure. The measure is due to go live in the EPA from 2027, so the successful candidate will need to prepare the business for meeting the new thresholds.
As a member of this team you will assure abstraction compliance throughout the year to ensure the information submitted to the regulator is robust and accurate and lead the root cause process following failure embedding learning into the improvement plan.
Some of your other key accountabilities will include:
- Leading of a team of high performing technical experts
- Developing and coordinating strategic plans to deliver on emerging regulatory focus
- Acting as the sole contact point and leader for both internal (strategic leader and business leader) and external stakeholders including key regulatory bodies (the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales).
- Developing and delivering of senior stakeholder plans which deliver positive and constructive relationships and improve the profile of the abstraction within the business and externally.
- Maintaining compliance with the requirements of our external auditors
- Leading and owning external audit outputs including delivery of next steps and actions
- Ensuring the assurance of abstraction and compensation returns for Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales.
- Acting as Severn Trent Water Company expert and single point for internal and external stakeholders and regulators to ensure positive relationships and correct profile of overflow related issues.
- Supporting the delivery of an improvement programme to ensure compliance with our abstraction and impoundment licences
- Supporting during dry weather events to manage abstraction and compensation levels
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
We’re seeking our Abstraction Compliance and reporting Team Manager to have at least 3-5 years of experience of business experience including working within an operational context. You will also need Experience of our Regulatory framework specifically in relation to specialist areas of flow and environmental permitting and a working knowledge of overflow monitoring installations and waste water processes that affect them.
To be successful, it’s expected that you’ll have Proven understanding of the financial management of budgets, you have applied, provided and presented key specialist knowledge to external stakeholders, regulatory bodies.
As well as this you will have Knowledge of the requirements of technical auditing, be able to communicate at all levels both internally and externally and be able to lead a team.
As travel is required, you’ll also need to hold a full UK driving licence.
