Location: Meriden 3  Reservoir - South (Warwickshire, Worcester/Gloucester & Central)

 

 

Working within our forward-thinking Strategic Networks department, you have the chance to join the team as a Large Diameter Mains Technician where you’ll be responsible for the operation and maintenance of Severn Trent’s Water Network assets with the end goal of delivering a continuous supply of potable water to our customers through our infrastructure. 

 

 

Some of the daily activities you’ll be involved in include ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­looking after the River Severn Aqueduct and critical assets on the strategic network, the inspection, improvement, maintenance, and repair of our assets. You’ll also liaise with other departments and work alongside our contact partners in order to provide and excellent service to our customers by resolving any of their issues at the point of contact.

 

 

Forming part of a Standby Rota you will provide 24hour response and support to emergency events such as burst mains and alarms for the respective area your team covers. You will also support County DSTs during Silver / Tactical events if required.

 

 

Plus, as our new Large Diameter Mains Technician you will be assisting with any isolations needed on the Trunk Main Network and you’ll support our Direct Trunk Main Operatives!

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

 

 

  • You will carry out a wide variety of tasks on the Trunk Main network. Work for the technician is scheduled by priority on potential risk to supply matrix and information and job details are sent via the laptop / phone
  • The role requires the technician to carry out maintenance and repairs on ancillary assets whereby they will be required to sign off asset as “serviceable” once the service to asset is complete. You’ll also be able to effectively assess the location of future repair and maintenance work by colleagues, in order that the correct arrangements can be made for “right first time” repairs.
  • The role requires the technician to cover large distances both in vehicles and on foot to ensure we cover the end to end of the Strategic Network and arrive with the kit required to tackle any issues identified.
  • You’ll get to deliver excellent customer service in accordance with the Companies policies and standards with an aim to deliver the job right first time & exhibit the right behaviours and responsibilities described in the behaviours model and to support the continual improvement, in order to provide our customers the best experience!
  • You will carry out distribution operational activities on site e.g. Flushing and cleansing of water mains, pressure, flow and disinfection management, disinfection of water mains, tracing mains and apparatus, customer / landowner liaison, valve operations and valving for interruptions to supply. These operations will include both simple / low risk and complex / high risk valve operations but constrained to the Trunk Main Network.
  • Be specialist in activities for the company such as valve release, valve repair and under pressure valve injection / repacking on our Trunk Mains outside of the DMA.
  • A Full UK Driving Licence is essential
