Distribution Service Technician

At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide when it comes to employee engagement and ranked as a Top 50 UK Employer on Glassdoor. Join us in making a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.

If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.

LET’S TELL YOU MORE

We are looking for a Distribution Service Technician to join our Finham team, on a 12 month FTC.

This is a varied and hands-on role at the heart of our operations, where you’ll be on the front line protecting and maintaining our water network. From responding quickly to incidents such as burst water mains and customers experiencing supply issues, to carrying out essential remedial work on key assets like valves and hydrants, no two days are the same.

You’ll play a vital, customer-facing role, providing reassurance and support to our communities when they need it most. With a strong focus on customer service, you’ll help ensure a reliable supply while addressing concerns around water quality. You’ll also respond to potential pollution events, taking swift action to safeguard both our network and the environment.

Your key objectives will be to help prevent pollution, keep customers informed, and minimise supply interruptions—playing a key role in protecting both our network and the communities we serve.

You'll be based out of Finham covering this patch. You will receive a company vehicle and required tools in order to do your job, making a full UK drivers licence an essential requirement. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 40 hours a week, working across a range of shift patterns including evenings and weekends.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

If you enjoy problem-solving, working outdoors, and making a real difference to customers and the environment, this is a role where you can truly have an impact. Someone with water experience would be desirable although not essential.

Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome and celebrate diverse individuals, knowing they help us better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.

HOW WE’LL REWARD AND CARE FOR YOU

It's not just a job; it's a career. We offer benefits that reward great work and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. Plus, you'll contribute to the environment and community too. Here are some of our favourites:

•              25 days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/ sell up to 5 days per year)

•              Annual bonus scheme (of up to £1,500, which is subject to eligibility)

  •         Family-friendly policies (including a year off fully paid maternity and adoption leave)

•              Leading pension scheme – we will double your contribution (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%)

•              Sharesave – the chance to buy Severn Trent plc shares at a discounted rate

•              Dedicated training and development with our Academy

•              Electric vehicle scheme and retail offers

  •         Two paid volunteering days per year
