EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Our Water Quality and Environment team have an exciting opportunity for you to join as our new Quality Technician at Tittesworth.

In your new role, you will be responsible in assuring public health by carrying out planned and unplanned water sampling activity at customer properties to achieve the highest standard of water quality.

Excellent customer service is essential as you will be responding and helping resolve issues raised, not isolated to sampling activity by a customer or member of the public. Problem solving general issues and navigating through other departments within Severn Trent is key.  The role will involve detailed knowledge of water quality standards, sites and sampling points to identify issues which can then be escalated and used to manage any water quality problems using various techniques.

The role is accredited to ISO17025, which requires stringent quality control checks and accurate record keeping. Therefore, attention to detail and accuracy is a must.

You will start from home and then complete your scheduled route to then drop your samples off at your designated base.

If you’re passionate about clean water then you could make a difference to a lot of people’s lives, please read on.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

  • Undertaking on-site analysis and sampling of drinking water and associated samples from water treatment works, service reservoirs, routine customer calls and other sampling points as required using aseptic techniques.

  • Have an awareness of the environment and the impact on the representative nature of samples taken and how this may affect what the company is measured on (e.g. MZC/CRI).

  • Complete on-site assessments of our internal plumbing to identify filters/softeners and other factors which may affect the samples with an ability to make onsite decisions about next steps, and you will be COSSH trained to prevent or reduce the exposure to substances that are hazardous to people health.

You’ll also need to exercise judgment and balance on the tools you use for these activities and the risk & impact of activities to our customers, the general public, and road-traffic users and you will need to ensure compliance with our statutory, regulatory and company standards at all times.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re seeking our new Quality Technician to be comfortable completing dynamic risk assessments and proactively put in place suitable controls to ensure that work can be conducted safely if needed.

You’ll have experience of working in the outside environment/weather/livestock and have excellent communication skills.  You’ll also need to be comfortable with some lone working even though you will be in a team.

In order to succeed in this role, it is expected that you will have:

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Good IT skills preferably SAP experience.

  • A background in Quality, Laboratory work or Mechanical Testing.

  • A full UK driving license and driving experience using commercial vehicles is desirable.

This role will be working 37 hours a week on an 8 week rotation, with the inclusion of a standby rota and reactive shifts.

Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome and celebrate diverse individuals, knowing they help us better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.
