This opportunity sits within our Severn Trent Services business, a commercial arm of the Severn Trent Group. Severn Trent Services provide water and waste services to companies nationwide, including the MoD and The Coal Authority. It’s a really exciting time to be joining Severn Trent Services – we’re on an upwards trajectory, our business is growing and we’re looking for new talent to join us on our journey!

 

The Quantity Surveyor role is a brand-new position within Severn Trent Services. If you are successful in role, you will be working with our Engineering Project Management function, over a variety of projects providing pre and post contract expertise. You will be an integral part of the process, from project conception all the way through to completion and final account.

 

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be not only negotiating and finalising the work orders, prices and terms with contractors, but also developing and writing the sourcing and authorisation reports for projects and batches, overseeing the contract and supporting the Project Manager in assessing and issuing contractual conditions.

 

Some of the other key accountabilities of this position include:

 

  • Assess Contractors applications for payment in line with the Contractual terms and conditions.
  • Negotiation of contractual and cost issues and Support with the change control process.
  • Running tenders / Negotiations
  • Validate, test and challenge the costs associated with the project.
  • Complete monthly Cost and Value reports using the appropriate STW software.
  • Ensure Contract Administration is administered strictly in accordance with the Main Contract requirements to deliver the Project/Contract Commercial Strategy.
  • Agreement of Final accounts
  • Developing effective working relationships with members of the project management team
  • Understanding risk and identifying the implications of actions taken by yourself and the project team
  • Ensure full compliance with commercial processess    

 

This is a home based role with travel to sites as necessary and ocassional travel to Severn Trent Head Office in Coventry

 

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR  

 

 

So, what does our ideal candidate look like? You will be a qualified Quantity Surveyor who not only has experience of NEC contracts, but experience in claims and change control. You will have excellent communication capabilities, you are forward thinking and proactive, and you are adept at working within the boundaries and parameters set by project standards and H&S regs etc.

 

A full UK driving licence is crucial, and it would be beneficial if you had some experience in the water/utilities sectors although not essential. 

 

 

Of course, it’s important that we attract the right skill sets, and those with the right experience but we value character, positivity and a caring attitude in equal weight.
