Within our Capital Delivery team, we're looking for a Lead Project Manager to provide strategic leadership across a portfolio of major capital projects and help drive successful delivery of our AMP programme. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-performing teams, influence key business decisions, and play a critical role in shaping the future of our infrastructure investments.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
As a Lead Project Manager, you'll provide leadership and oversight across a portfolio of complex capital delivery projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with business objectives.
You'll lead and support a team of Project Managers, providing technical guidance, project governance, and strategic direction whilst maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business, our supply chain, and regulatory partners.
Working within a fast-paced delivery environment, you'll be responsible for driving performance, managing risk, and ensuring projects achieve the desired outcomes for our customers, communities, and environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the delivery of a portfolio of major and complex capital projects across Capital Delivery.
- Providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring to Project Managers and wider delivery teams.
- Driving programme performance through effective planning, governance, and project controls.
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Managing strategic stakeholder relationships across the business and external partners.
- Supporting commercial performance, contract management, and risk mitigation activities.
- Leading project reviews, assurance activities, and governance reporting.
- Driving innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement across project delivery.
- Supporting business planning and contributing to the successful delivery of AMP commitments.
- Promoting a positive culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and customer outcomes.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE
We're looking for an experienced project delivery professional with a strong track record of leading major capital programmes and developing high-performing teams.
You'll be a confident and inspiring leader who can influence at all levels, navigate complexity, and drive successful outcomes through collaboration and effective decision-making.
You will ideally have:
- Extensive experience delivering large-scale infrastructure, utilities, construction, or engineering projects.
- Demonstrable experience leading teams of Project Managers within a complex delivery environment.
- Strong knowledge of project governance, programme management, and project controls.
- Proven experience managing NEC contracts and commercial delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Strong financial management, forecasting, and budget control experience.
- A proven ability to manage risk and resolve complex delivery challenges.
- APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP, or equivalent project management qualification.
- Degree qualification in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or a related discipline (desirable).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
