Construction Supervisor

Look no further than Severn Trent Water! Our award-winning, innovative company is home to over 8,500 dedicated team members who are passionate about making a positive impact on the world. We offer a diverse range of roles and development opportunities, so there’s something for everyone here. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your career to the next level, we have the resources and support you need to succeed.

When people think of Severn Trent, they immediately think of water and waste – and that's only natural – it's our bread and butter after all… but you might not realise we have a thriving Developer Services business. Whether someone is building their own house on a small plot, planning a large housing estate or a commercial development, Developer Services work with you to make sure your water and wastewater plans are right for the project.

Everything You Need to Know

We have an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Developer Services Construction Supervisor. In this role, you’ll ensure our customers receive a safe, timely, and high-quality new connection to our clean water network. You’ll lead and develop a team of construction operatives, making sure every connection meets our customer offer expectations, regulatory standards, and internal targets — all while delivering exceptional service and value.

You’ll work closely with Construction Project Managers (CPMs) and contractors to ensure all construction schemes are delivered in line with the Severn Trent Design Manual and Water Fittings Regulations. You’ll also support inspections, pre-site excavations, and pre-start meetings, helping to avoid aborts and ensure smooth delivery.

Your responsibilities will include assisting with off-site works, producing Gold Standard Permit Sketches, and ensuring customers are informed and minimally disrupted by our work. You’ll collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and trade union colleagues, and lead daily communications to drive performance and continuous improvement.

Cost efficiency and commercial awareness are key, and you’ll be expected to support data reporting and identify opportunities for operational improvements. You’ll lead change initiatives, work closely with scheduling teams, and monitor off-site works to avoid Section 74 fines. Regional travel will be required, and you’ll be part of a standby rota (frequency to be agreed).

Hours are Mon - Friday 7.30am - 4pm, with 1 weekend in 4

What You’ll Bring to the Role

We’re looking for someone with a strong track record of leading teams in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. You’ll need experience managing performance and employee relations, and the ability to lead through change while inspiring others. Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills are essential.

You should have a solid understanding of regulatory requirements and water industry standards, along with proficiency in IT systems, planning, scheduling, and reporting tools. A valid EU Skills National Hygiene accreditation card and NRSWA Supervisor/Operative qualification are required. Familiarity with DMEX, GSS, and SIM processes, as well as Severn Trent/HD Design Policies and Water Regulations, is important. A strong commitment to health, safety, wellbeing, and environmental standards is expected.

We value clear thinkers who can make confident decisions, even in ambiguous situations. You’ll need to be commercially driven, customer-focused, and capable of motivating diverse teams. Adaptability, resilience, and a positive attitude are key to thriving in this role.

What’s in it for You

Working here isn’t just a job — it’s a career. We’ll reward your hard work and help you grow with award-winning training and development. You’ll also play a part in protecting the environment and supporting the communities we serve.
