EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Join us as a Team Manager for Area 5 and lead a dedicated operational team making a real impact. You’ll be leading a team of 17 FTE at the heart of sludge treatment, renewable energy generation, and producing high-quality biosolids that support Severn Trent’s environmental and carbon reduction goals.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of site performance and compliance while helping your team grow and succeed. You’ll manage the operation and optimisation of sludge treatment assets, driving green energy generation through biomethane and electricity production. Your leadership will ensure we deliver a compliant, high-quality biosolids product that meets industry standards and strengthens our relationships with the farming community.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Bioresources and Wastewater Recycling to achieve regulatory outcomes and continuous improvement. This is a role for someone who combines strategic thinking with hands-on operational expertise and a passion for leading people.
You’ll be responsible for sites across Area 5, including Worksop, Mansfield, Newthorpe, Alfreton, and Scunthorpe.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and inspire your team to deliver strong operational performance, regulatory compliance, and Severn Trent KPIs.
- Take ownership of asset health, process reliability, and optimisation to maximise performance and green energy generation.
- Drive strategic and commercial decisions, manage financial controls, and ensure right-first-time delivery of capital schemes.
- Champion health, safety, and wellbeing standards, conduct assurance checks, host audits, and oversee contractor activity including permits for high-risk work.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, LOPs, Waterpedia, and maintain STORM risk portfolio for investment planning.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, resolve customer complaints, and lead team communications using the SBF toolkit.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of growth and continuous improvement.

Experience & Qualifications
- Proven leadership in an operational or technical environment with knowledge of wastewater and sludge treatment processes.
- Strong health and safety expertise in high-risk environments and experience managing contractors and suppliers.
- IT proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a solid technical or maintenance background.
- IOSH Managing Health & Safety qualification and a scientific, process, or engineering background.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
