If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

As a Bioresources Process Scientist, you’ll be part of a high-performing technical team dedicated to maintaining and improving the health and compliance of sludge treatment processes across six key sites in the north-east Severn Trent region

The team provides technical support to Bioresources Operational sites, ensuring biological and chemical processes are effectively monitored, optimised, and corrected to maximise biogas production. This is achieved through scientific sampling and data analysis. A key focus is maintaining high-quality biosolids in line with the Biosolids Assurance Scheme and Farming Rules for Water, fostering strong relationships with the agricultural community.

You’ll lead process investigations to identify and resolve non-compliance issues, collaborating with stakeholders to implement solutions and share learnings. You’ll monitor asset performance through sludge sampling and data analysis, driving initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce emissions.

With a continuous improvement mindset, you’ll assess process strengths and weaknesses and support environmental improvement efforts across the region. Additionally, you’ll provide technical input during the commissioning of new plants and ensure smooth integration of new schemes in collaboration with the Capital Delivery Team.

The sites you will be responsible for are:

  • Stoke Bardolph, Nottinghamshire
  • Scunthorpe
  • Alfreton, Derbyshire
  • Newthorpe, Derbyshire
  • Mansfield
  • Wanlip, Leicestershire

  • Utilise data and trend analysis to identify changes and causes for process change, liaising with stakeholders to identify and implement mitigating actions in a timely and safe manner.
  • Provide assessment and informed guidance of the impact of proposed changes to process or assets to minimise the risk of negative impacts on the sludge treatment process including the temporary or permanent removal of an asset.
  • Provide technical advice and monitoring during commissioning of capital projects including development of commissioning plan.
  • Identify, support, set standards and deliver training for on-site testing and process knowledge development.
  • Lead and drive the delivery of compliance against statutory and regulatory requirements through the monitoring, reporting and tracking of key performance measures.
  • Influence, communicate and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external to Bioresources in the end-to-end application of process health process performance.

To succeed in this role, you should have experience working with new and existing processes and be open to innovative techniques and technologies. A good understanding and application of process systems, IT systems, and automation is essential, along with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement effective solutions.
