Project Manager
Want to do the best work of your life? Orchestrating a multi-million-pound environmental programme that will make a real difference for generations to come. Our people make Severn Trent a truly exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be yourself and let your organisational skills shine.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our new Infiltration team as a Project Manager and take ownership of the programme's success. This will be a wide-spanning role, applying your project management expertise across all our strategic workstreams – from data and investigation to delivery and innovation. You will be the engine room of the programme, ensuring we have the governance, plans, and momentum to turn our strategic goals into reality. This role can be based in Coventry, Derby or Leicester.
Are you a highly organised and collaborative leader who excels at bringing complex, multi-faceted projects to life? If you are excited by the challenge of building something from the ground up and delivering tangible environmental outcomes, we encourage you to apply!
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
You’ll play a central role in mobilising the programme by helping to establish the governance framework, stakeholder engagement plans, and gated processes to ensure all investment is both targeted and auditable. A key part of your role will be to create, maintain, and track an integrated programme plan that spans all workstreams. This includes managing dependencies, identifying risks, and ensuring that our activities across data, investigation, and delivery are fully aligned.
You’ll oversee the delivery of our projects and larger catchment-scale rehabilitation schemes, managing delivery partners, tracking progress against milestones and budgets, and ensuring robust quality assurance is in place. Supporting the innovation workstream, you will manage trials of new technologies and processes, ensuring that insights are captured and embedded into standard practices. Working closely with our analyst, you will help ensure that performance tracking and benefit realisation processes are robust, enabling us to clearly demonstrate the value of the programme. As a key point of contact, you will also foster strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to support smooth and efficient delivery.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
We’re looking for someone with a proven track record in project or programme management, having successfully delivered complex, multi-stakeholder projects from initiation through to completion. You’ll bring exceptional organisational and planning skills, with experience in risk management, dependency mapping, and budget tracking. Strong leadership and influencing abilities are essential, enabling you to drive progress and hold others to account, even without direct line management responsibility. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are also key, allowing you to engage effectively with technical teams, delivery partners, and senior leaders. A proactive, results-driven mindset and the ability to navigate ambiguity while creating structure will be vital to your success in this role.
Experience in the utilities, engineering, construction, or environmental sectors is highly desirable, though not essential. We also welcome candidates from other project management backgrounds—such as technology, business change, or regulatory environments—who can demonstrate transferable skills. Formal project management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, PMP) are advantageous, as is familiarity with managing capital investment programmes and developing business cases. An interest in environmental issues and a desire to contribute to a purpose-led organisation would be a strong asset.
