As part of the Ground Engineering team and a subject matter expert, you will provide ground related technical guidance to the project teams delivering Outline Design and Detailed Design for the vast AMP8 Programme of Capital projects. This role requires an individual with experience of Geotechnical and /or Geo-environmental Engineering, including geo-environmental desk studies, coal mining risk assessments, ground investigations and writing both factual and interpretative ground investigation reports.
This role can be based on any of our capital hubs; Shrewsbury, Derby or Coventry.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Reporting directly into the Technical Lead, you’ll prepare ground related technical reports suitable for Severn Trent assets. Carrying out risk assessments and reviewing health & safety documents is an integral part of the role.
Other key accountabilities:
- Communicate technical ground related matters with internal and external Stakeholders.
- Assess, and continuously improve design capability.
- Support development of standard designs.
- Challenge solutions proposed and drive innovation.
- Share learnings from previous projects.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
- Experience in providing technical advice as a subject matter expert on ground engineering topics.
- Confident in preparing and reviewing ground related deliverables such as geo-environmental desk studies, coal mining risk assessments, ground investigation scopes and interpretative reports.
- Knowledge of foundation design principals.
- Knowledge of land contamination technical guidance, assessment and risk management.
- A full UK driving licence will be required.
