About the Role:
We have an exciting new opportunity as a Design Engineer. In this role, you’ll have wide range of clean water infrastructure work to get involved in and our team can offer you technical exposure and skills you need to progress your career.
Location: This role can be based at any of our capital hubs: Shrewsbury, Derby, or Coventry.
To do this role you will ideally have experience of working with or designing clean water networks and an understanding of CDM regulations in design process.
Initially you will provide support to Senior & Principal Engineers to deliver project to programme, within budget, to the correct quality standards.
In addition, you will need to:
- Work to CDM 2015
- Understand STW H+S standards
- Be (or work towards being) principal designer
- Build, Drive & Manage your own programme
- Deliver to agreed timescales
- Design Clean Water Networks
- Understand hydraulics within a water system
- Understand pipe connectivity
- Work with hydraulic Modellers to optimise designs
- Design with carbon reduction in mind
- Prepare Key Deliverable documents
- Undertake site visits
What You’ll Bring to the Role:
- Excellent stakeholder and client relationship management skills.
- Knowledge of how to design clean water distribution networks and pipelines
- Understand or have knowledge of hydraulic modelling packages and their limitations
- Ability to prepare optioneering and technical reports
- Understanding of health and safety standards
- Knowledge of how to operate and use systems including GIS and CAD
- An understanding of managing design phases from feasibility to detailed design
- Excel within a team of junior and senior/principal engineers
