Compliance Analyst
Want to do the best work of your life? Transforming a flood of raw data into the critical insights that will guide a multi-million-pound environmental programme. Our people make Severn Trent a truly exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be yourself and let your analytical and technical skills shine.
Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care. We are launching a landmark programme to combat infiltration, and at its core is a simple need: to become a truly insight-rich, proactive organisation. To do this, we need a brilliant Data & Analytics Lead to build and own our entire data strategy.
This is a fantastic opportunity to shape our approach from the ground up. You will lead our data, monitoring, and analytics strategy, architecting the systems and developing the capabilities that will become the single source of truth for infiltration. You'll transform how we use data, from deploying a strategic monitoring network to developing new, enhanced and predictive models as well as creating dashboards that drive multi-million-pound investment decisions.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
You will be responsible for developing and executing the full data, monitoring, and analytics strategy for the project. This will involve identifying appropriate data sources, overseeing the implementation of strategic monitoring techniques, and either developing or procuring the core data platform that supports the programme.
As part of your role, you will design and build the programme’s Infiltration Dashboard. This will provide a clear, intuitive, and trusted view of network performance, which will be used by a wide range of stakeholders, from field teams to senior leaders.
You will also develop and implement a methodology for quantifying benefits. This means translating physical outcomes, such as reduced flow, into auditable financial and regulatory gains, helping to demonstrate the value of the interventions being made.
In addition, you will act as the analytical hub for the programme, offering vital data support to teams involved in strategic investigation, delivery, and performance tracking. Your insights will be key to driving informed decisions across the board.
You will champion a data-driven culture by promoting the importance of data quality and evidence-based decision-making. Through upskilling the wider team, you will help embed an analytical mindset throughout the organisation.
Finally, you will enhance our analytical capabilities by applying statistical techniques to identify trends and patterns. As the programme evolves, you will explore and implement machine learning or similar models to generate predictive insights into infiltration hotspots.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
We’re looking for someone with strong data analysis skills and experience working with large, complex datasets to solve practical problems. Proficiency in tools such as SQL, Python or R, and platforms like Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik is important. You should have a strategic mindset, capable of designing future-proof data architectures and analytics roadmaps. Strong problem-solving abilities and an inquisitive nature are key, along with the ability to communicate complex insights clearly to non-technical audiences.
Candidates from a range of technical backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including data science, engineering, environmental science, hydrogeology, physics, and asset management. Experience bridging real-world systems with data, particularly in utilities or telemetry, is valued but not essential. Familiarity with data platforms, governance, and quality management is desirable, as is knowledge of statistical modelling, predictive analytics, or machine learning. A degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics is preferred.
