Proactive Senior Advisor Team Manager

Our innovation strategy is simple — we’re focused on solving today’s challenges while also tackling the long-term issues facing our industry. Whether it’s ensuring a reliable supply of high-quality drinking water, reducing waste through energy-efficient technologies, or enhancing network visibility, our team of 150+ innovators is working every day to make a positive impact. If you’re driven by purpose and looking to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you — there really is something for everyone here.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Asset Care Senior Advisor to join our Asset Strategy and Planning team and we’re flexible on location.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

In this role, you will be accountable for defining maintenance strategies for our assets. You’ll investigate asset care operations and maintenance opportunities triggered by changes in investment strategies, asset health performance, or feedback from field-based teams. You’ll also be responsible for delivering condition-based capital projects, making recommendations for governance approval, and leading their implementation within the business.

In addition, the role includes line management of a team of Capital Administrators and a County Performance Expert, supporting their development, performance, and alignment to business objectives. You will also work closely with a broader range of stakeholders — including finance, operational teams, and strategic partners — to ensure accurate financial forecasting, effective capitalisation of assets, and strong performance management across all related programmes.

Key Accountabilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring changes in investment strategy, asset health performance, and field operations, anticipating potential challenges and identifying opportunities for improvement in asset care.
  • Preparing communication materials (e.g., posters, comm cell updates, and toolbox talks) to clearly explain operational or maintenance changes.
  • Working with field teams to analyse asset health performance and identify improvements to maintenance practices.
  • Exploring, developing, and implementing new condition-monitoring techniques.
  • Scoping and delivering installation of condition-monitoring capital projects.
  • Providing effective line management to a team of Capital Administrators and a County Performance Expert, ensuring high standards of performance, engagement, and development.
  • Leading financial forecasting and performance reporting for asset care initiatives, ensuring accuracy and alignment with budgetary expectations.
  • Capitalising assets in line with financial policies and supporting audit requirements.
  • Managing a wider range of stakeholders, including finance, operational leaders, and project teams, to ensure consistent delivery of asset care objectives.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

We’re looking for someone with strong problem-solving abilities and hands-on experience in asset maintenance. Experience in operational, electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation maintenance is an advantage. You’ll need to demonstrate a proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders and possess both strategic insight and technical expertise.

To excel in this role, you’ll have experience in technical operations within a water or waste non-infrastructure environment. Empathy and an understanding of the challenges faced by frontline teams will be essential.

Please note that this role requires travel across our sites, and a Full UK Driving Licence is required.
