What You’ll Do...
Within our dedicated in-house Design Team, you are poised to achieve outstanding results and make a significant impact.
We’re looking for an innovative Senior Hydraulic Modeller to develop and model solutions and improvements to Severn Trent Water’s wastewater network aligning with the Severn Trent AMP8 Business plan and Design Standards. Typical risks that require solution development include sewer flooding, growth and CSO performance.
This role will be based from our Raynesway hub in Derby.
Key Responsibilities...

Carry out and manage hydraulic modelling activities across multiple projects to meet current and future demands, work closely with colleagues in Tactical Asset Planning and Capital Design & Delivery teams in addition to the wider business.

Lead project specific hydraulic modelling requirements including model upgrade, appraisal and development of modelled options alongside design engineers.

Communicate and present complex modelling risk and solutions to a range of stakeholders.

Assessment of hydraulic model fitness for use; scoping, procuring and managing asset and flow surveys.

Undertaking historical verification, talking to customers and operational colleagues to help understand asset and system performance.

Ability to review supplementary data sources to historically verify models including, EDM data, MCERTS data and long term infiltration data.

Undertaking catchment appreciation walkovers and managing/attending surveys, where necessary.

Identifying root cause and mechanisms of network issues.

Identification and analysis of modelled options; Development of notional modelled solution; producing model documentation (model build and verification reports, model log to record audit trail through root cause analysis, optioneering and solution development) to support Design Engineers.

Signing off QA documentation, checking, reviewing and approving work undertaken by others within the team.

Mentoring of junior staff and providing support and guidance to the wider team across a range of projects.

Preparing technical reports and other project deliverables.
What You’ll Bring...
-
Extensive experience in wastewater network modelling using Info Works ICM and associated GIS tools.
-
Waste water network design, operation, control and maintenance.
-
Data management / analysis and risk identification.
-
Scoping and management of asset and flow surveys. Understanding of flow survey limitations.
-
Competent in the use of hydraulic modelling software including the use of 1D/2D, full 2D, river modules and various run-off models to develop complex, integrated, catchment wide models.

Comprehensive understanding of sewerage hydraulics and hydraulic model limitations.

Sewerage design including offline and online storage, SPS, CSOs, flow control devices and SuDS features.

Detailed understanding of rainfall and runoff processes including FSR, FEH, fixed and variable runoff models and time series rainfall.

Experience of using historical verification to support model build and verification, including examples of the use of a wide range of data sources to arrive at satisfactory conclusions.

Understanding of water quality and links to urban drainage systems including knowledge of WINEP/SOAF process and WFD/water quality standards.

Sewerage Management Planning and Drainage Area Planning (desirable).

Waste water network construction methods and buildability (desirable).
-
Sewage treatment inlet works and storm route design and operation (desirable)
