EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW  

 

 We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Services Manager based in Raynesway (Derby) within our Waste Infrastructure Design team. In this role, you will oversee your own series of small to medium sized projects, managing the delivery of design consultant services to meet the milestones set within the Severn Trent End to End Project Programme.  Your role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional internal stakeholders, project teams, and external partners to drive value for money, innovative and effective design solutions  to achieve project outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  •  Project Management: Coordinate, write and manage multiple Service Orders for professional design services so the project deliverables meet the design and project requirements.
  • Coordination and Collaboration: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between sponsors, hydraulic modellers, designers, planners and other stakeholders.
  • Design Oversight: Guide the design process, understanding inputs required to support the design development, understanding the difference between change and design development and be compliant with Severn Trent’s programme requirements and safety standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage risks throughout the design, construct and operational phases.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal stakeholders and the wider supply chain to ensure project alignment and optimal outcomes. Seek innovations from suppliers to achieve 50% faster, 30% cheaper and support internal learning labs.
  • Governance: Support the progressions of projects through Severn Trent’s gated process in a timely and efficient manner. Provide necessary information and recommendations to decision-makers at each gate review. 

 

 WHAT YOU’LL BRING

 

You’ll be degree qualified (desirable) and showing your professional commitment as a member of one of the engineering Institutions or actively working towards incorporated or chartered status, a journey which we are keen to support you on. Having water industry background would be great but not essential however a civil discipline would be required. 

 

Excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people. You will be a forward-thinking  capable of anticipating challenges and responding to change in a rapidly evolving environment.  A full UK driving licence will be required.
