EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Project Manager to play a key role in delivering Severn Trent’s and Hafren Dyfrdwy’s DSR Remedials Delivery Programme. In this role, you’ll lead a collaborative, integrated team made up of Severn Trent Water, Hafren Dyfrdwy, and trusted contractor partners, delivering a diverse portfolio of projects right across the region.

You’ll be at the heart of turning plans into action—making sure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively, while achieving strong outcomes for customers, the environment, and the business. With a programme value of around £50m each year, your work will have real impact.

Success in this role is all about great teamwork and strong relationships. You’ll work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to keep projects on track, meet delivery milestones, and ensure regulatory commitments are met—making a genuine difference every day.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Deliver a critical programme of work, collaborating closely with internal teams, contractors, and partners to ensure safe, efficient, and optimised outcomes across a regional portfolio.
  • Take full ownership of multiple projects (up to 12 at a time), ensuring delivery to scope, programme, budget, and quality requirements while achieving long‑term value for customers.
  • Act as CDM and NEC Project Manager, ensuring all contractual, legal, and regulatory obligations are met throughout design, construction, and handover.
  • Lead strong stakeholder relationships, supporting seamless delivery, effective governance approvals, and smooth project handover into operations.
  • Manage financial, risk, and regulatory performance, including forecasting, budget control, SMART investment decisions, and compliance with legislation such as NRSWA, TMA, planning, environmental, and land access requirements.

Essential Experience and Skills

Communication & Influence

  • Communicate clearly and confidently with a wide range of stakeholders, encouraging collaboration and handling both positive and challenging conversations effectively.

Commercial & Strategic Awareness

  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities, challenge constructively, and drive innovative, cost‑effective solutions that deliver best value for the business.

Personal Effectiveness

  • A self‑aware and proactive professional who seeks feedback, learns from setbacks, and contributes beyond their immediate responsibilities to support wider business goals.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge or qualifications in health, safety, environmental management, water quality, and potable water assets (including Water Hygiene / Blue Card).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to influence without authority and work independently using sound judgement.
  • Competent IT user (Microsoft Office and Severn Trent systems) with a full UK driving licence.

Core Competencies

  • Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience, with a strong understanding of water treatment, storage, and distribution.
  • Experience managing contractors and working safely in high‑risk environments, including confined spaces and working at height.

Qualifications

  • APM accreditation (or equivalent) and degree‑level qualification in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or an Environmental discipline.
  • NEC accreditation.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Desirable: Membership (or working towards) a professional body such as ICE, CIWEM, or IMechE.
