Project Manager (CDC)

At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide when it comes to employee engagement and ranked as a Top 50 UK Employer on Glassdoor. Join us in making a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.

If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.

Within our Capital and Commercial Services (CCS) department, we are looking for a Project Manager to join our Waste Infra Blocks delivery team!

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Waste Infra Blocks team in CCS as a Project Manager.  Being a regional based team, it’s essential you’re able to travel independently but you’ll be based from our Raynesway, Derby office.

As a Project Manager, you`ll be responsible for delivering the waste infra programme of block work including site visits with contractors for scoping, reviewing prices and generating works orders into contract.  Once in contract activities will include coordinating, monitoring and auditing these works on site to ensure compliance with our H&S standards and best practices.

You’ll be delivering our Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) outputs on the infra network, whether that be like-for-like replacement assets on our sewage pumping stations, CSO’s, or the installation of new nuisance assets, to name a few.  All of this needs to meet the expectations of our regulators and customers, and be to time, on cost and of great quality.  You’ll help drive the programme from design through to completion, engaging with key stakeholders (both internally and externally) along the way.  And with a large programme of work approaching in the remainder of AMP8, you’ll be key to ensuring we continue to deliver to the highest standard as we move through the AMP.

With a diverse programme in the Waste Infra Blocks CCS team, you’ll see a wide range of site activities from sewer and pumping main repairs, pipe bridge surveys and repair works through to construction of new storm tanks, for example.  The programme of works in the Waste Infra Blocks CCS team is prioritised through our Tactical Asset Planning (TAP) team, so stakeholder management is key throughout the project life cycle.

You`ll be competent in managing the six aspects of a project, i.e. scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality and resources. You`ll drive the project plans, safeguard milestone delivery and also ensure reporting of progress through to the Lead Project Manager.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

Ideally qualified in a technical engineering discipline and qualified as or working towards chartered engineer status, you will be a forward thinking and innovative project manager capable of managing multiple capital engineering and construction works. You will have experience of managing NEC projects, with a proven track record of cost planning; management of and budgetary responsibility.

You’ll come equipped with team membership, leadership and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive and flexible approach to working, and have excellent planning and organising skills.

You will be a dynamic and collaborative leader with excellent communication and influencing skills. You will have a strong ability to build successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds, and hold a relentless drive for continuous improvement. You’ll also need the ability to innovate and anticipate unexpected issues and challenges as they arise.

Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome and celebrate diverse individuals, knowing they help us better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.
