LET’S CUT STRAIGHT TO IT 

We’re looking for a talented Modelling Engineer to join our Asset Intelligence & Innovation Modelling Team, supporting the development, maintenance, and enhancement of our wastewater hydraulic models. This is a great opportunity to work on high‑impact projects that help shape flooding, pollution, and network performance outcomes across our regions.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Maintaining and enhancing wastewater hydraulic models to meet project needs
  • Assessing model fitness for use and supporting the SOAF programme
  • Conducting root cause analysis for pollution and flooding incidents
  • Supporting model build, verification, audits and technical assurance
  • Working closely with internal teams and contributing to presentations for key stakeholders
  • Mentoring junior colleagues and helping drive modelling innovation across the team
  • Collaborating with our data science community to explore AI, ML and modelling integrations

 

You'll be base out of our head office in Derby, Raynesway within our Asset Management Modelling team. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week.


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in wastewater network modelling (ICM essential)
  • Strong understanding of sewer network operation, asset data, rainfall/runoff processes, and flow survey methods
  • Experience using GIS tools and working with diverse data sources
  • Knowledge of pollution mechanisms, UPM, and water quality standards (desirable)
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and data presentation skills
  • Ability to work to time, budget, and engage effectively with stakeholders
  • A proactive, detail‑driven and collaborative approach

Qualifications

  • Degree (or HNC/ONC) in Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science or similar
  • Working towards or holding IEng status (e.g., ICE, CIWEM)
  • Full UK driving licence
