EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Design Manager to lead and coordinate the design process on civil engineering projects, while also fulfilling the statutory duties of the Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations. This dual-role position ensures that design risks are effectively managed, and that health and safety considerations are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.

Key accountabilities:

  • Lead the design process from concept to construction, ensuring alignment with project objectives, budget, programme, and compliance with technical standards and regulations.
  • Manage design deliverables and changes, resolve issues promptly, and facilitate reviews, value engineering workshops, and constructability assessments.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement and health & safety planning during pre-construction, identifying and mitigating foreseeable risks throughout design and delivery.
  • Prepare and maintain health & safety documentation, including Pre-Construction Information (PCI) and the Health and Safety File for handover.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

We are looking for someone with a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field) with proven design management experience on major civil projects, strong CDM 2015 and Principal Designer expertise, excellent leadership and stakeholder skills, proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit/BIM tools, and a full UK driving licence.

Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome and celebrate diverse individuals, knowing they help us better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.
