In this role you’ll lead a team responsible for proactively optimising the operation of our wastewater infrastructure assets. You will monitor asset performance and deliver operational improvements where required.
You’ll manage a team of Waste Network Specialists, Technicians, and Hydraulic Modellers, ensuring we safely and effectively remove wastewater from our customers’ homes while enhancing the environment in which our network operates. You’ll make sure our assets perform within their required thresholds, take action when they do not, and escalate issues for capital investment when necessary.
Some of your key accountabilities will include:
- Lead and develop a team of optimisation technicians, specialists, and water quality experts, promoting safety, wellbeing, and best practice.
- Monitor, evaluate, and optimise wastewater network assets, ensuring they operate within defined parameters.
- Maintain and improve tools and data systems used to monitor asset performance, operational risk, and contingency planning.
- Prioritise environmental protection, ensuring compliance with obligations and promoting responsible network operation.
- Manage operational and capital investment needs, including budgets, risk assessments, and business cases.
- Drive improvements in customer service and performance commitments, sharing lessons learned and recognising team success.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You’ll have experience in wastewater, with strong knowledge of network design, operation, control, and maintenance. Experience in Sewerage Management Planning, network construction methods, and river water quality modelling would be advantageous. You will also bring a solid understanding of hydraulics and storm route operation, and be confident in data management, analysis, and identifying risk.
As well as this, you’ll have experience in leading a large and varied portfolio of work, ensuring assurance and high standards across multiple stakeholders, is essential.
You’ll be an effective leader with the ability to coach, mentor, and inspire others, while working collaboratively across teams. Strong problem‑solving, planning, and organisational skills are key, alongside the ability to think strategically to drive sustained performance improvements whilst influencing stakeholders at all levels.
