If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We’re looking for an experienced Hydraulic Modeller to join our Waste Networks Optimisation team. In this role, you’ll work closely with our on‑site specialists to investigate performance issues across our wastewater network, helping us understand root causes and develop high‑level optioneering solutions that shape future investment and operational decisions.
You’ll evaluate the performance of wastewater catchments where risks or issues are present, using your hydraulic modelling expertise to interrogate network behaviour. Where data gaps exist, you’ll identify areas for improvement, support the planning and collection of survey information, and lead on incorporating new data into the model to improve confidence and accuracy.
Your findings will feed into notional solution development, providing essential insight for our Risk Validation and Tactical Planning teams as they progress feasibility and design. In short, you’ll play a key role in shaping how Severn Trent Water improves and optimises its wastewater networks.
There will also be opportunities to visit sites, participate in survey planning and execution, and receive training in survey techniques and equipment, enabling you to actively contribute to data collection and build a deeper understanding of how the network operates on the ground.
Your work will directly influence the development of notional solutions that reduce risk, improve resilience, and enhance performance across our wastewater network.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
You’ll bring proven experience in wastewater hydraulic network modelling, ideally using InfoWorks ICM or similar platforms, along with competency in GIS tools and an understanding of the data requirements that underpin accurate modelling.
You’ll be experienced in scoping and planning projects, including asset survey requirements, and comfortable leading the integration of new data into models.
You should have a strong understanding of hydraulic principles, model limitations, and good modelling practice.
To succeed, you’ll be well organised, detail‑driven, and naturally curious about identifying and solving problems. You’ll be proactive in anticipating risks, and able to clearly communicate and present technical information in a way that’s accessible to a wide range of audiences.
Finally, you’ll have an interest in developing your practical skills too — with opportunities for on‑site involvement, survey participation, and training in survey equipment and data collection techniques.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
Working here isn’t just a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent, and we’ll reward you for it too. We have a range of benefits that recognise great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the communities where we live.
With that in mind, here are just some of our favourite's perks that you’ll get being part of the Seven Trent family:
- 28 days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/ sell up to 5 days per year)
- Annual bonus scheme (up to £2,250 based on company performance and subject to eligibility)
- Leading pension scheme – we will double your contribution (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%)
