Assistant Project Manager
At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide when it comes to employee engagement and ranked as a Top 50 UK Employer on Glassdoor. Join us in making a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.
If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.
Within our Capital and Commercial Services (CCS) department, we are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our Waste Infra Blocks delivery team!
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Waste Infra Blocks team in CCS team as an Assistant Project Manager.
Being a regional based team, it’s essential you’re able to travel independently but you’ll be based from our Raynesway, Derby office.
As an Assistant Project Manager, you`ll be supporting the project manager responsible for the Waste Infra Block works from a technical standpoint, from site visits with contractors for scoping, to reviewing prices and generating works orders into contract. Once in contract activities will include coordinating, monitoring and auditing these works on site to ensure compliance with our H&S standards and best practices.
You’ll be delivering our Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) outputs on the infra network, whether that be like-for-like replacement assets on our sewage pumping stations, CSO’s, or the installation of new nuisance assets, to name a few. All of this needs to meet the expectations of our regulators and customers, and be to time, on cost and of great quality. You’ll help drive the programme from design through to completion, engaging with key stakeholders (both internally and externally) along the way.
With a diverse programme in the Waste Infra Blocks team, you’ll see a wide range of site activities from sewer and pumping main repairs, pipe bridge surveys and repair works through to construction of new storm tanks and sludge tanks, for example. The programme of works in the Waste Infra Blocks team is prioritised through our Tactical Asset Planning (TAP) team, so stakeholder management is key throughout the project life cycle.
You`ll be competent in managing the six aspects of a project, i.e. scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality and resources. You`ll drive the project plans, safeguard milestone delivery and also ensure reporting of progress through to the Project Manager and Lead Project Manager.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
You’ll come equipped with confident communication, team membership, leadership and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive and flexible approach to working, and have excellent planning and organising skills.
You`ll also bring your strong conflict management skills and would ideally be NEC4 and/or APM or equivalent project management qualified; however, if you`re working towards it that`s still fine, we would be happy to support you throughout your journey.
Ideally you’ll be able to demonstrate experience of managing multiple projects or programmes of work at a given time, whilst remaining curious, being courageous, taking care and being proud of what you and the team do.
Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome and celebrate diverse individuals, knowing they help us better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.
