LET’S CUT STRAIGHT TO IT

At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide when it comes to employee engagement and ranked as a Top 50 UK Employer on Glassdoor. Join us in making a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.

If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.

LET’S TELL YOU MORE

We’re excited to offer an opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as a DWSP Advisor — a role that’s central to protecting public health by ensuring the safety of drinking water from source to tap. You’ll play a key part in risk assessment and regulatory reporting, working closely with our Water Quality Regulations and Public Health Teams, and collaborating across the wider business.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong stakeholder engagement skills who thrives in a collaborative environment. While experience in water treatment or water quality is a bonus, it’s not essential — we’ll support you to build technical knowledge as you go.

Role Overview

As a DWSP Advisor, you will:

  • Ensure DWSP risk assessments are up to date and accurately reflect risks.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams, championing the importance of capturing detailed risk information.
  • Manage team workload to meet regulatory reporting deadlines and provide timely advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage proactively with stakeholders to raise awareness of DWSP, its relevance to their work, and timely communication of changes in risks and mitigation actions.
  • Lead meetings confidently, ensuring governance and sign-off processes are followed to comply with reporting requirements (including at Strategic Lead and Director level).
  • Actively lead the management of risk classification and mitigation activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of DWSP processes.
  • Champion the rollout of the new DWSP IT system (launching in 2026), including training and upskilling of colleagues and other teams across the business.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Proven ability to work independently, manage regulatory systems, and build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly organised and proactive, with a strong focus on meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Full UK driving licence is required for travel to sites and meetings.

Desirable Experience

  • Familiarity with water quality or water treatment processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome and celebrate diverse individuals, knowing they help us better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.
