Technical Lead

We’re currently recruiting for a Technical Lead join our team.
The primary objective of this role is to drive risk reduction and performance across Water Quality, Sewerage Treatment, and Environmental work streams under the Aquatrine contract.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
In your new role, you’ll be responsible for optimising resources for OPEX savings, strengthening our ability to win new growth contracts through tender support and manage stakeholder engagement with MOD and developers.
Some of your other key accountabilities will include:
- Ownership of Flow Compliance requirements for Sewerage Treatment (STW) project within MOD Package C Contract.
- Accountable for the protection of the MOD water & wastewater; networks, infrastructure, permits and licences, by ensuring adequate interventions to accommodate new development on MOD sites.
- Responsible for the ALS sampling delivery and budget, flushing programme and Private Water Supply Risk Assessments (PWSRAs)
- Responsible for all EA compliance in terms of permitting, consents in relation to Abstraction and Sewerage Treatment in addition to MCERTS audits, accreditation and rolling out and delivering additional sites on to MCERTS
- Accountable for BSI and Achilles Audits relating to ISO 14001 and related environmental issues (e.g. Pollutions)
- Identification and resolution of critical skills gaps within STS Networks Team, such that as market needs change, STS adapts and continues to grow
- Identification of process and asset risks with potential to impact on contractual and financial performance, with ownership to ensure adequate mitigation.
- Stakeholder engagement to build and maintain business relationships with key influential 3rd parties
- Best in class customer care, ensuring timely and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Consistent reporting and process governance, meeting all expectations of MOD and internal senior management
- Drive continuous improvement developing new, smarter and more efficient ways of working and meeting increasing customer expectations
- Provision of timely and detailed answers to MOD, in response to assurance, project and programme enquiries
- Support development of long-term strategy to drive STS growth and capability
- Management and inspiring leadership of own team, ensuring timely delivery of projects, achievement of all service level agreements, development and embedding improved operating
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
Our ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding of water and wastewater networks, treatment processes, and the environmental challenges facing businesses like STS. You’ll have strong analytical skills to interpret network hydraulics, proven experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and a track record of problem-solving and logical thinking to deliver results.
Leadership ability is key, motivating teams and inspiring high performance—alongside meticulous attention to accuracy and reliability. A full UK driving licence, advanced IT skills (including Microsoft Office), and the confidence to thrive in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment are essential.
