EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
At Severn Trent, we’re passionate about doing the right thing—for our customers, our communities and each other. We’re now looking for a Newly Qualified Solicitor to join our friendly and supportive Group Legal team, where you’ll build a broad in‑house career while making a real impact.
This is a great opportunity for a newly qualified solicitor who’s keen to develop their skills in a commercial, in‑house environment. With close support from a Senior Legal Counsel and wider legal colleagues, you’ll provide high‑quality, pragmatic legal advice across a range of business areas and projects.
While you’ll have a main business focus, this role also offers exposure to wider group matters—giving you variety, learning opportunities and the chance to grow your confidence as an in‑house lawyer.
Based primarily at our Coventry city‑centre offices, you’ll be part of a collaborative, welcoming team that values innovation, curiosity and continuous improvement—including exploring how tools like AI can support legal service delivery.
What you’ll be doing
With guidance and supervision, you’ll:
- Provide legal advice across a broad range of matters including commercial, corporate, regulatory, real estate, environmental and dispute‑related work
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts, agreements and related documents
- Support projects and strategic initiatives alongside Senior Legal Counsel
- Gradually take the lead on appropriate matters as you develop your experience
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders by communicating legal advice in a clear, practical way
- Deliver legal training and awareness sessions to the business
- Help improve legal processes and explore new ways of working, including legal technology
