Senior Security Specialist

 

 

The Security of our sites and assets is critical to our company and also to the national infrastructure of the country, we have invested significantly in the security of sites across the company which we are required by law to maintain and control. Which is why we are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Senior Security Specialist join our Security and Resilience Team (with travel across sites as required)

 

 

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

 

 

We’re looking for a Senior Security Specialist to define and deliver our strategic approach to physical and personnel security. You’ll ensure we meet all regulatory and statutory obligations, manage emerging threats, and drive a culture of security excellence across the business.

 


What You’ll Be Doing

 


Strategic Leadership

 

  • Develop and implement protective security strategies, standards, and governance
  • Lead security capital investment projects and business planning
  • Oversee compliance with national infrastructure security regulations

 


Operational Excellence

 

  • Conduct site assessments, audits, and risk evaluations
  • Provide technical and non-technical security advice
  • Lead on criminal and security investigations, ensuring legal and data privacy compliance

 


Stakeholder Engagement

 

  • Liaise with appropriate government departments, regulators and law enforcement
  • Represent Severn Trent in national security initiatives
  • Deliver clear, actionable insights on security trends and threats

 


Cultural Change & Assurance

 

  • Promote a proactive security culture across the organisation
  • Manage enterprise-level security risks and assurance programmes
  • Support business continuity, resilience, and incident response

   

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

 

We’re seeking a seasoned security professional with a deep understanding of physical and personnel security, including physical and electronic mitigation measures. You’ll need to be confident in navigating complex threats, technologies, and regulatory landscapes, with a proven ability to influence and embed cultural change across a large organisation.


You should have experience in strategic planning, project delivery, and conducting investigations, as well as the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Strong stakeholder management skills and a collaborative mindset are essential, as is the ability to simplify complex data and present it clearly.


To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

 

  • Valid SC clearance
  • Recognised security certifications / qualifications
  • A full UK driving licence
