The key objective for our compliance team is to ensure that we continue to meet and exceed our regulatory reporting, licence and statutory obligations, along with implementing a matrix approach which will supports us in improving our effectiveness and efficiency in this area.
With these high standards in mind, we are looking for a Senior Compliance and Assurance Analyst to join us to continue the good work. In this bespoke role you’ll be required to deliver compliance and assurance activities to professional, ethical and quality standards within the timescales set out. In this high-profile role, there will be an expectation to deliver continuous improvement, undertaking deep dives and lessons learnt sessions to ensure that that we can deliver ongoing improvements in compliance assessments and monitoring.
As this role works across the whole of Severn Trent Group, it will be your responsibility for managing the process for internal and external regulatory investigations, to professional, ethical and quality standard. In addition, you’ll responsible for the coordination and monitoring of EIR and Ofwat requests, ensuring that responses meet the required regulatory standards and SLAs.

What you’ll be doing
Your key accountabilities in helping us will be:
- Champion a culture of compliance and assurance excellence, recognised as an expert for the business in this area.
- Accountable for overseeing the organisations responses to Environmental Information Requests in accordance with the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and organisational standards. Collaborates across the business to assess and communicate the compliance implications of regulatory consultations, engaging both directly with teams and indirectly through key stakeholders, ensuring key compliance and regulatory risks are effectively identified and mitigated.
- Own and deliver the Group Compliance and Assurance programme of work within the established business partnering model, providing timely and insightful updates throughout the year and leading the production of the Annual Risk and Compliance Statement for publication within the Annual Performance Report.
- Provide strategic oversight and assurance activities to the highest professional, ethical, and quality standards, exercising sound judgement to define the scope and testing approach required to assess key compliance risks and provide meaningful assurance over the effectiveness of associated controls.
You will report into the Group Compliance Manager.
HOW WE WORK
You'll be based at our Severn Trent Centre in Coventry. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for a highly motivated compliance professional with strong analytical skills and a passion for driving high standards of governance, assurance and regulatory compliance. You'll have experience/understanding of regulatory obligations and governance processes in the utilities sector', and the confidence to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation.
The ideal candidate will be able to interpret complex information, provide objective challenge, and influence positive change through continuous improvement and robust assurance activities. You'll be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, and delivering high-quality outputs to demanding deadlines.
We're particularly interested in individuals who can:
- Demonstrate experience in compliance, assurance, risk, governance or regulatory environments.
- Analyse complex information and communicate clear, practical recommendations.
- Build strong relationships and influence stakeholders from frontline teams through to senior leaders.
- Promote a culture of accountability, compliance and continuous improvement.
- Support regulatory investigations, casework and reporting to professional and ethical standards.
- Take a proactive approach to identifying emerging risks, trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Work collaboratively while maintaining independence, objectivity and integrity.
- Embrace innovation and leverage data, technology and new ways of working to enhance compliance processes.
