If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.

LET’S TELL YOU MORE

Make a tangible impact on the environment by transforming complex data into the critical insights that will guide a multi-million-pound strategic programme

This is a technical leadership position. You will act as the technical authority for the programme, shaping our approach from the ground up. You will lead our data, monitoring, and analytics roadmap, architecting the systems that will serve as the single source of truth for infiltration. You will transform how we utilise data, from deploying strategic monitoring networks and spearheading the continuous evolution of our Infiltration Detection Analysis tool (IDAT), to pioneering new data science and spatial mapping capabilities that inform major investment decisions.

  • Drive the Strategic Data Vision: Develop and execute the overarching data, monitoring, and analytics strategy. This includes identifying optimal data sources, governing data quality, and building a scalable platform to support the entire programme.
  • Advance Data Science & Spatial Mapping: Move the programme beyond standard reporting. You will pioneer advanced analytical capabilities, using machine learning, statistical modelling, and GIS to predict and pinpoint infiltration hotspots.
  • Lead the Infiltration Detection Analysis Tool (IDAT): Act as the primary owner and technical lead for IDAT, ensuring it is continuously optimised, scaled, and seamlessly integrated into operational decision-making.
  • Provide Technical Leadership: While you will not hold direct line management responsibilities, you will operate as the technical authority for the analytical hub. You will matrix-manage workloads, provide rigorous quality assurance, and mentor the wider analyst team.
  • Architect Intuitive Visualisations: Design, build, and champion the programme's central Infiltration Dashboard, translating complex, multi-layered data into clear, trusted intelligence for everyone from field operatives to executive sponsors.
  • Quantify Programme Success: Own the benefit realisation methodology. You will be responsible for translating physical outcomes (such as flow reduction) into auditable financial and regulatory benefits.
  • Champion a Data-Driven Culture: Act as the internal advocate for analytical rigour, bridging the gap between raw technical data and operational delivery teams to embed a proactive mindset.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

This role requires extensive analytical experience within a complex, asset-intensive organisation, with a proven track record of extracting actionable insights from disparate datasets. You will bring experience in a technical leadership capacity, with the ability to oversee task allocation, conduct peer reviews, and mentor junior or mid-level team members.

Advanced proficiency in relational databases and programming or querying languages such as SQL, Python or R is essential, alongside experience with enterprise visualisation platforms like Power BI or Tableau.

A strong practical understanding of data science methodologies, including predictive modelling and spatial mapping/GIS software, is also required. You will demonstrate a strategic mindset, with the capability to design long-term data architecture and translate complex findings into clear, compelling narratives for non-technical senior stakeholders.

We are looking for candidates with experience in the utilities, environmental science, hydrogeology, or engineering sectors, along with familiarity with telemetry data, environmental monitoring networks, and catchment-level asset performance tracking. You should have experience in governing, developing, or scaling bespoke analytical tools (such as IDAT), supported by a degree in a highly quantitative discipline, such as Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
