Scrum Master

Here at Severn Trent, our Technology mission is simple – we deliver and maintain secure and stable IT services, which maximises value to our business.

Dig a little deeper and you will find a living, breathing department of highly talented individuals and teams, buzzing with energy, ideas, and enthusiasm. Our teams are always interested in learning new, innovative, and exciting ways for us to aid our business colleagues, and ultimately our customers experience.

Collectively, we provide a critical national infrastructure to millions of customers in our region, so the only question is… why wouldn't you want to be part of that?

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We have an opportunity for a Scrum Master to join our team on a permanent basis.

Whilst we primarily use an agile delivery methodology, we also apply other project delivery techniques, so we’ll be looking for you to have practical experience of different project management methods and proven experience of working to Agile principles.

You’ll need to be passionate about inspiring, coaching, and motivating team members to deliver, whilst also having robust stakeholder management skills that will enable you to remove obstacles and influence the continued effectiveness of the cross functional team.

The role of Scrum Master is really varied, with many key responsibilities. Some of them will include:

  • Establishing, building, and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels to deliver project activities, ensuring that expectations are clear and understood.
  • Forming and managing appropriate relationships with a wide range of internal and external third parties to protect delivery and produce agreed outcomes.
  • Controlling the scope and risks within the project framework, identifying, and mitigating risks within the delivery team.
  • Working with the key stakeholders to ensure delivery of value, and appropriate business readiness activity is conducted throughout the delivery phase.
  • Continually improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the cross-functional team by pushing the maturity of agile or other suitable delivery methodology.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

You’ll need to have experience with a variety of project management methodologies. Familiarity with Agile toolsets and working within an Agile culture, emphasizing joint team outcomes, empowerment, servant leadership, and continuous improvement, is important. Equally essential is practical experience with other approaches such as Waterfall, PRINCE2, Lean, or hybrid models, enabling you to adapt your style to suit different project needs and environments.

As our new Scrum Master you’ll also bring strong commercial awareness, helping to manage budgets effectively and ensure that the value we aim to deliver aligns with the investment made.

The right skills and experience matter, but just as important are the right character, a positive mindset, and a caring attitude. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality. We believe that diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us learn and better serve our communities. We’re looking for people who show up, get involved, and want to be part of something bigger, people who want to make a difference because they care.

Is that you?
