Regulatory Business Partner
At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We're known for our strong employee engagement, inclusive culture, and commitment to making a positive impact on our communities. This role strengthens our ability to work collaboratively across the organisation, ensuring we deliver clear, consistent, and trusted regulatory reporting.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We're looking for a Regulatory Business Partner who is as comfortable building strong relationships as they are in understanding regulatory requirements. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working closely with a wide range of stakeholders—Operations, Finance, Capital Delivery, Compliance, and Engineering—to help the business navigate regulatory obligations with confidence.
This role emphasises influencing, supporting, and guiding teams to ensure high‑quality, well‑understood, and robust regulatory reporting. You’ll act as a trusted partner, helping operational and strategic teams understand what regulation means for them, how performance is measured, and how decisions impact our regulatory commitments.
What you’ll be doing
- Partner with teams across the business to strengthen understanding of regulatory expectations and ensure reporting processes are embedded effectively.
- Support the preparation and delivery of regulatory submissions, acting as a key liaison between functional teams and regulatory reporting.
- Facilitate discussions, workshops, and reviews to help teams interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into clear, actionable activity.
- Ensure risks, issues, and dependencies relating to regulatory reporting are clearly communicated and well understood across stakeholders.
- Coordinate activities following submissions, including responding to queries from Ofwat and supporting teams with restatements or clarifications.
- Help build strong forecasting and performance management capability within operational teams by providing context, insight, and challenge.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for someone who can:
- Collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders across Operations, Capital Delivery, Compliance, Engineering, and Finance.
- Embrace continuous improvement—developing, embedding, and enhancing processes over time.
- Apply lessons learned to strengthen future reporting cycles.
- Manage workload independently and deliver high quality outputs to tight deadlines.
Experience & Skills
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to influence and support colleagues at all levels.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into simple, practical messages for non-specialists.
- Confidence facilitating conversations, challenging constructively, and guiding teams through complex reporting cycles.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A curious approach and willingness to learn about evolving regulation and its impact on the business.
- A sound understanding of financial principles and the ability to support forecasting activities across operational teams.
Qualifications & Background
- Experience working in a role with stakeholder engagement or business partnering responsibilities.
- Experience in regulatory, financial, operational, or reporting environments is beneficial but not essential.
- Experience preparing or contributing to formal reports is desirable.
- Above all, we’re looking for someone proactive, positive, and able to build trust across the organisation.
