LET’S CUT STRAIGHT TO IT
We’re looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Property team. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that our technical supplier expenditure (c. £12m) delivers the best value for money. Working alongside another QS, you’ll manage costs, negotiate contracts, and assess on-site work quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit contractor payment applications against agreed rates and resolve queries promptly.
- Provide accurate reports on committed spend, accruals, and savings for senior leadership.
- Certify payments and maintain detailed breakdowns of jobs and outstanding claims.
- Conduct physical audits on at least 15% of high-value work instructions.
- Manage competitive tenders for major works (e.g., road replacements, refurbishments, new builds).
- Prepare detailed designs and evaluate contractor submissions to ensure best value.
You'll be base out of our head office in Coventry within our Property team. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on civil engineering and building projects (water industry experience desirable).
- Strong commercial and engineering background with professional qualifications (RICS, CIPS, or equivalent).
- Skilled in managing contracts, suppliers, and tenders.
- Highly numerate with excellent analytical and IT skills (SAP, Excel, etc.).
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
- Hold a full U.K driving licence.
