EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We’re looking for a Portfolio Manager, who’ll lead change activities that will deliver high risk projects and programmes in our Technology Delivery team.
In this role you’ll own project planning, and control the delivery, implementation, and budget for one or more programmes up to a value of c.£20m within the context of a larger portfolio of work. Control will include the management of project risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies, and the co-ordination of project workstreams.
You’ll manage delivery as part of an Agile, Waterfall or Hybrid framework, including managing Agile Delivery Trains. Additionally, you’ll deliver projects with board level visibility and act as coach to help the development of less experienced project managers.
As Portfolio Manager, you’ll develop an understanding of what the project / programme will deliver from a business and benefits perspective, and you’ll have the confidence and professionalism to challenge on areas where this in not the case.
You’ll help shape the processes that ensure projects are delivered at pace, and using your experience, you’ll provide management and coordination of our external suppliers.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
You’ll join with experience of leading large teams, including members from Technology, other business functions and third-party suppliers. You’ll be adept at operating at a senior level and will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of IT programme management of large scale, complex projects in a corporate environment.
To be successful, you must be able to ensure optimum productivity and pace from project teams, proactively removing blockers to delivery. You should be able to secure appropriate sponsorship and resource from business colleagues to allow effective implementation, and you’ll have the ability to create maximum business value by delivering projects quickly and innovatively within an appropriate control framework, ensuring sufficient quality levels are maintained throughout.
