LET’S CUT STRAIGHT TO IT

At Severn Trent, our ambition is simple: no one gets hurt or made unwell by what we do. We’re looking for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Technical Expert to lead the development of clear, practical standards, learning and systems that make safe working easy for everyone.

What you’ll do

  • Own and continuously improve Severn Trent’s Health, Safety & Wellbeing management system and standards and supporting guidance
  • Develop clear, pragmatic H&S Standards aligned to UK legislation, best practice and ISO 45001
  • Create engaging, high‑quality Toolbox Talks and safety learning materials
  • Translate complex legal and technical requirements into simple, practical guidance
  • Shape and improve digital HSW systems (incident reporting, risk assessment, audits, permits to work)
  • Act as a trusted Technical Expert, advising leaders and frontline teams on safe and compliant working
  • Use data from incidents, audits and feedback to drive continuous improvement

 


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Strong working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and risk management
  • Proven experience developing H&S Standards, procedures or technical guidance
  • Experience creating Toolbox Talks, learning content or safety training materials
  • Confidence working with digital HSW systems and supporting system improvements
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, able to influence without authority
  • High attention to detail, strong problem‑solving skills and a pragmatic mindset
  • Full U.K driving licence

Desirable

  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Experience with system configuration, workflows or reporting dashboards

Additional information

  • You’ll join the Security & Resilience standby rota
  • This role involves regular site engagement and face‑to‑face collaboration across the business
