EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We’re looking for a HR Business Partner to join our Human Resources team on a 12-month contract to cover maternity leave.
As a HR Business Partner, you’ll develop and maintain a trust-based relationship with a fantastic group of dedicated Severn Trent Leaders. You’ll do this by ensuring you take a real partnering approach to HR and demonstrating a passionate for supporting and challenging our people managers by giving pragmatic, commercially sound advice and championing continuous improvement.
You’ll also collaborate effectively across central HR functions for the purpose of pace and agility in the key initiatives that are significant deliverables for the business area.
Some of your other key accountabilities will include:
- Build a deep understanding of the business area, challenges and goals to be able to influence and steer the critical people workstreams.
- Identify and implement improvement initiatives in the traditional suite of HR components such as employee relations, attendance, performance and talent management processes, recruitment and reward.
- Enabling the business to drive their employee engagement.
- Working with leaders on organisational design and structures enabling an agile operating model.
- Be the conscience of enabling the right environment for changes to embed and be sustainable to enable organisational effectiveness and cultural change supporting our ambition to create an awesome place to work for our employees. Working with the central HR functions on the delivery of the end-to-end process.
- Contribute to or lead employee relation activities to minimise business risk and in support of our partnership relationship with our trades unions colleagues.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate will have proven experience operating as a strategic and trusted HR Business Partner, with a strong focus on partnering with senior stakeholders and building effective, influential relationships across an organisation. You will quickly establish credibility, and confidently navigate the complexities of our business operations and bring these to life in meaningful actions and strategies for the wider HR team.
You will bring experience in coaching and training line managers, along with strong mediation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. A strategic mindset, commercial awareness, and the ability to remain resilient and professional under pressure are essential. Experience in organisational design and training delivery is desirable.
While a CIPD qualification is advantageous, we welcome candidates with substantial and relevant experience in a similar role.
