Are you a strategic finance leader with a passion for delivering gold standard financial reporting? 

 

Join Severn Trent as our Group Financial Accounting Manager and play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of one of the UK’s most essential services.

 

 

As the Group Financial Accounting Manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality financial accounting and reporting across the Severn Trent Group. 

 

 

This includes overseeing external financial reporting, group consolidation, and statutory reporting for Severn Trent Water, Severn Trent Plc, and other corporate entities.

 

 

You’ll lead a talented team of 5 direct, 8 total reports, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with IFRS standards—all while supporting strategic decision-making at the highest levels.

 

 

Severn Trent is entering a transformative phase in its financial reporting journey with the implementation of IFRS 18 and IFRS 20, marking a significant shift in how performance and disclosures are presented across the Group.

 

 

This is an exciting opportunity for the new Group Financial Accounting Manager to be at the forefront of this change—playing a pivotal role in shaping how these new standards are embedded across the business.

 

 

From influencing strategy to guiding teams through technical complexities, this role offers the chance to lead one of the most impactful financial reporting transitions in recent years, ensuring Severn Trent remains an industry leader in transparency, compliance, and innovation.

 

Further responsibilities include:

  • Lead the delivery of financial statements, results announcements, and group consolidations
  • Oversee technical accounting areas and ensure IFRS compliance across the group
  • Deliver accurate, timely reporting for Severn Trent Water, Plc, and corporate entities
  • Identify risks and opportunities in reported figures and support tax reporting needs
  • Manage and develop two high-performing teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, coordinate audits, and maintain strong internal and external relationships
  • Stay ahead of financial reporting developments and drive innovation in reporting practices

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

 

We’re looking for a qualified finance professional (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with substantial post-qualification experience in financial reporting within a listed company environment—ideally FTSE 350 or above. 

This is the perfect opportunity for an Audit Manager or Senior Manager from a Big-4 accountancy firm looking to make their first move into Industry, or for someone with experience in a large, complex organisation in a similar role seeking a fresh and rewarding challenge

You’ll bring deep expertise in IFRS, strong technical accounting skills, and a proven track record of leading high-impact reporting projects.

Experience managing and developing small teams of specialists is essential, along with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly to senior stakeholders.
