As a Finance Business Partner supporting the Retail division within Customer Solutions, you will play a pivotal role in driving commercial insight, operational effectiveness, and financial performance. Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will shape decision‑making for senior stakeholders, ensure robust financial control, and actively contribute to both in‑year delivery and AMP planning.

This role offers an excellent development pathway and is designed to position you as a future successor to the Senior Finance Business Partner.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Provide financial support across multiple Retail cost centres, including month‑end close and cost control.
  • Build strong working relationships with cost centre managers to support delivery of in‑year performance targets.
  • Lead the budgeting process for your designated areas.
  • Support the annual business planning cycle, working with stakeholders to gather inputs and deliver high‑quality financial modelling.
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis, identifying risks, opportunities, and actionable insights from data.
  • Prepare accurate monthly forecasts that reflect planned outputs and financial impacts.
  • Deliver clear and concise monthly performance reporting to central finance and key stakeholders within Customer delivery.
  • Ensure accurate cost allocation during the annual regulatory reporting cycle, in line with regulatory accounting standards.
  • Create and deliver engaging, insight‑led presentations with minimal support.
  • Influence commercially sound decision‑making by balancing financial and non‑financial considerations.
  • Understand and validate non‑financial cost drivers to support data integrity across reporting.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and modelling where required.

 

HOW WE WORK

 

You'll be based at our Severn Trent Centre in Coventry. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

To be successful, you will bring:

 

  • Extensive finance experience in a similar business partnering or analytical role.
  • Experience of business partnering multiple non finance stakeholders with differing finance knowledge.
  • Ability to identify business issues and support performance improvement through meaningful insight.
  • Confidence in articulating recommendations that support strategic decision‑making.
  • A track record of building robust, credible relationships across an organisation.
  • Experience contributing to continuous improvement activities.
  • Strong capability in MS Office, SAP ECC and business intelligence tools.

Qualifications

 

  • A recognised financial or accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, CIMA, ACCA) is essential.
