EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Finance Business Partner to join our Capital Delivery & Commercial Finance team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting the successful delivery of our capital programme by providing high‑quality insight, robust reporting, and constructive challenge across financial, performance and regulatory objectives.
Working closely with Capital Delivery Business Leads and reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, you’ll help drive improved programme performance through clear analysis, strong governance and effective business partnering. You’ll ensure a consistent and high‑quality monthly reporting rhythm, while also identifying opportunities to improve processes, performance and decision‑making in both the short and longer term.
What you’ll be doing
- Partner with Capital Delivery Business Leads to support and challenge the delivery of capital programmes through insightful financial and performance analysis.
- Lead month‑end reporting for key business areas, including budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
- Monitor and report capital spend and delivery outcomes, ensuring alignment with regulatory, financial and efficiency targets.
- Develop, produce and present clear and balanced capital performance reporting to senior leadership teams, Portfolio Boards and other approval bodies.
- Identify key risks and opportunities impacting annual and AMP performance, working proactively with delivery teams to mitigate risks and maximise opportunities.
- Support and continuously improve capital programme governance, accounting processes and compliance with budgetary controls.
- Facilitate robust forecasting across CAPEX, IRE and OPEX and provide clear insight into performance trends.
- Lead and contribute to projects that enhance Management Information (MI) and reporting capability across Capital Delivery.
- Provide high‑quality regulatory and performance reporting, including supporting submissions to Ofwat where required.
- Build strong working relationships across Finance, Strategy, Strategic Asset Planning and Capital Delivery to support long‑term capital planning.
- Support and mentor the Capital MI Analyst, helping to drive ongoing improvements in data quality and reporting.
- Deliver ad‑hoc analysis and reporting to support performance management and decision‑making.
HOW WE WORK
You'll be based at our Severn Trent Centre in Coventry. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Essential experience and skills:
- Strong experience in performance analysis, with a track record of driving improvement through insight and challenge.
- Excellent technical accounting knowledge, with the ability to explain accounting standards clearly to the business and external auditors.
- Ability to understand and connect complex data sets, focusing on priorities that support organisational objectives.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence and challenge at all levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
- Advanced MS Office skills, alongside experience of SAP ECC and BI tools.
- Strong commercial and financial awareness.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of capital programme governance processes.
- Understanding of AMP7 outcomes and their link to capital delivery.
- Experience of delivering improvement projects or programmes of work.

Qualifications
- Qualified Accountant.
- Full UK driving licence.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C or above, or demonstrable numeric and verbal competence through relevant experience.
