End User Computing Lead

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

 

Here at Severn Trent, we’re looking for our next End User Computer (EUC) Lead.  This is to expand the skills and technologies of our IT Operations function bringing strong leadership to the team. We’ll be looking for you to be a skilled technology person with extensive management experience within the field. 

 

Our EUC Engineers, manage our complex hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure. This role requires a strong technical background in Microsoft technologies, a solid foundation in ITIL best practices and extensive management experience in Technology.

 

You’ll be engaged & responsible for day-to-day EUC operations, troubleshooting, whilst adhering with agreed SLA’s and OLA’s across Technology and the wider business.

 

In this role, you’ll work with various stakeholders & provide technology expertise, whilst seeking improvements in processes by clearly understanding our business drivers and the IT systems which drive them.

 

Key accountabilities and technologies in the team include:

  • Support, maintain and improve implementations of a Hybrid estate of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Modern Workplace based solutions. Building on AAD and Endpoint Manager platforms.
  • Install, maintain and optimise our VDI environment, utilising Citrix DaaS in Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows365.
  • Maintain and enhance our use of Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot to improve centralised management of devices (laptops, tablets, phones) in our organization. Focusing on streamlining device provisioning, management and packaging of application delivery, making it efficient, compliant and user-friendly.
  • Implement solutions which drive automation and scripting to help reduce time spent by support teams and in turn. To develop and enhance monitoring and healing response times and solutions. Using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principals and technologies such as Powershell, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), and playbooks such Ansible.
  • Help resolve technical issues and risks to customers systems, providing appropriate technical input into Incident, Requests, Changes, RCAs and Risk mitigation as well as enhancing documentation and knowledge base resources and ultimate resolution of issues, focusing on eradication of repeat incidents.
  • Management and communication of stakeholder expectations and customer service needs.
  • You will also be on an on-call rota.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE 

 

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic End User Computing (EUC) Manager to lead and inspire our EUC team. This role requires a strong leader with a proven ability to drive team performance, shape positive behaviours, and elevate technical capabilities. You will be responsible for fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration, ensuring the team delivers exceptional support and innovative solutions to end users. Your leadership will be key in aligning team development with strategic business objectives, empowering individuals to grow while enhancing the overall effectiveness and resilience of our IT services.

 

To be successful, you’ll be adept at collaborating with stakeholders, and you’ll need strong interpersonal, negotiating, influencing and leadership skills with experience in impelling senior leadership to gain buy-in and leading a team of technical Engineers. You’ll need to possess excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels, with the ability to translate complex IT issues into business vocabulary. 

 

You will be combining both your technical skills to assist driving the team forward and manging and assisting with workloads, with also your leadership skills to ensure the team are developing and enhancing the teams skillset and using ITIL best practices to manage workflow to desired levels.
