About the Role:

 

We’re looking for a talented Design Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Design Business Lead, you will play a key role in delivering Severn Trent’s capital investment programme. You’ll lead integrated teams made up of internal colleagues, supply chain partners, and industry stakeholders—providing both technical leadership and programme assurance across a varied portfolio of work.

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Set strategic direction, prioritising and deploying resources to influence investment and asset management decisions.
  • Lead and mentor the Design Engineering Team, building capability and driving performance.
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders, shaping solutions that meet sponsor requirements.
  • Manage resources and budgets, assuring designs in line with our capital delivery roadmap.
  • Champion innovation, identifying opportunities to introduce new technologies across Severn Trent and its supply chain.
  • Put customers at the forefront, ensuring decisions create long‑term value and support high‑quality asset management.

 

What You’ll Bring

 

You’ll have experience leading multi‑disciplinary teams, coaching and developing talent, and influencing processes, systems, KPIs, and delivery timelines.

Excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people will be required. You will be a forward-thinking  capable of anticipating challenges and responding to change in a rapidly evolving environment.  A full UK driving licence will be needed.
