Join us to make a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.

If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.

LET’S TELL YOU MORE

At Severn Trent, data plays a vital role in helping us deliver an exceptional service to our customers, protect sensitive information and make informed decisions for the future. We're looking for a Technology Data Assurance Team Lead to join our Office of Data and take ownership of a critical function that helps ensure we manage personal data responsibly, transparently and securely.

In this role, you'll lead our Data Assurance team, providing governance, oversight and continuous improvement across a range of important activities, including Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), information rights, statutory exemption management, system access assurance and mandatory compliance obligations.

Leading a team of four specialist analysts, you'll shape and mature our approach to data assurance, ensuring robust processes are in place while driving high standards of service, risk management and regulatory compliance. You'll work collaboratively across the business, building trusted relationships and helping colleagues understand and meet their responsibilities when it comes to data and information management.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about data governance, enjoys leading teams and wants to play a key role in protecting the trust our customers place in us every day.

Some of the Key accountabilities in this role are:

  • Lead the end-to-end management of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and other data rights requests, making sure they’re handled accurately, securely and efficiently.
  • Keep us compliant with UK GDPR requirements, ensuring requests are completed within regulatory timescales, and any extensions are appropriately managed.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and data protection, ensuring disclosures are thoroughly reviewed, appropriately redacted and exemptions are clearly evidenced.
  • Manage team caseloads and priorities, keeping deadlines visible, identifying risks early and making sure nothing slips through the gaps.
  • Work closely with Legal, the Data Protection Officer and key stakeholders to confidently manage complex, sensitive or contested cases.
  • Build strong relationships across the business, helping teams understand the role they play in identifying requests early and providing the information needed to meet our obligations.
  • Drive a collaborative approach to data rights, making it easy for operational teams to engage with the process and helping us deliver the right outcomes for our customers and colleagues.

You'll join a caring culture that collaborates to achieve, grow, and develop. Our employee engagement scores are among the highest globally in energy and utilities. That’s why, we value in-person moments to keep our culture alive but also understand the flexibility working from home can bring. So, you'll usually find us in the office, but working from home is supported, when you need it.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You’ll have experience of system access governance and access recertification, along with a good understanding of information security frameworks and internal audit practices. If you’ve worked in a regulated environment such as utilities, financial services, healthcare or the public sector, even better. Managing complex DSARs and other data subject rights requests end to end, including redaction and exemption application would be a requirement for the role.

Just as importantly, you'll bring a customer-first mindset, strong communication skills and a passion for delivering a great colleague experience every day. Whether you're supporting a frontline operational team, a corporate office or a critical business function, you'll take pride in providing a professional, reliable and friendly service.
